5 Telltale Signs You’re Burned Out (And Why It’s Okay to Admit It)

“You Can’t Wait Until Life Isn’t Hard Anymore To Be Happy”
Wow, it’s been forever since I last posted here—life’s been a whirlwind, and honestly, I’ve been wrestling with some serious burnout vibes myself. It is hard to explain when you are in the state of burnout and can’t really pick on one thing that is making you fatigued and stressed out.
So, let’s dive into what burnout really is, because I bet a lot of us are feeling it right now. It’s not just being tired or stressed out. Burnout is that bone-deep exhaustion that hits when life’s demands keep piling on, and you’re running on empty.
I’m excited to be back and share some thoughts on spotting it, dealing with it, and finding ways to recharge. Stick with me — let’s figure out how to get our groove back together!
Here are five telltale signs you’re actually burned out, written from the heart for my blog comeback..
1. You’re exhausted, Like, All the time.
Think constant fatigue, feeling like you’re just going through the motions, maybe getting a bit snappy or cynical (yep, been there). You might notice headaches, trouble sleeping, even a full night’s sleep doesn’t fix it. It’s not just physical..it’s mental and emotional too. You feel drained, like you’re running on fumes, no matter how much coffee you chug. Burnout is real.
2. You’re Checked Out and Kinda Cynical.
Remember when you cared about your hobbies? Now, you’re just going through the motions, maybe even rolling your eyes at stuff you used to love. You might feel detached, like you’re watching your life from the sidelines.
3. Your Body’s Sending SOS Signals.
Headaches, muscle aches, or getting sick more often? Maybe your sleep’s all over the place - can’t fall asleep or sleeping way too much. Your body’s waving a red flag, saying the stress has gone too far.
4. Always Trying to Fix Everything, But Nothing Seems to Change
You’re always chasing improvement, even in your sleep. Ideas hit you before bed and right when you wake up…a constant drive to fix things. But it feels like a never-ending grind, with processes all over the place, fragmented and scattered.
5. Your Brain’s in a Fog.
Struggling to focus, or feeling like decisions are impossible? That’s burnout messing with your head. It’s like your brain’s stuck in quicksand, and you are way too overwhelmed. It’s not just feeling tired after a long week; it’s like your whole system’s screaming, “I’m done!”
If these hit home, you’re not alone —I’ve felt this too. Burnout’s rough, but recognising it is the first step to getting your spark back — "Keep taking time for yourself until you're you again." Choose Peace. Choose Yourself.
